Our School

The school building is an excellent learning environment, with 4 class bases, a well stocked library, two small group rooms and a well equipped school hall.

The classrooms provide a stimulating and attractive learning environment.  All are large, light and bright and carpeted throughout.  Classrooms are fully equipped with interactive whiteboards and all have their own cloakroom, and access to outdoor space.

The school's extensive grounds provide a hard surfaced playground with wide ranging play equipment, an outside play area for the sole use of our Reception children and a large grassed field to the side of the school which has extensive habitats for wildlife including a school pond and Castaway Camp with its very own fire pit.

Milborne St Andrew is the first tier in a three tier school system within the Dorchester area.  The school educates children from Reception to Year 4.  Most children who attend school come from the local village although approximately 40% of children travel into school from surrounding small hamlets and villages.

The children within the school's catchment area will usually transfer to St. Mary's Middle School, Puddletown, and then on to The Thomas Hardye Upper School in Dorchester, all part of the Wessex MAT.   We have excellent liaison with St Mary's and extensive transition activities ensure children make a successful transfer to middle school.
